These properties were purchased with FHA loans where the Federal Housing Authority insured the mortgage. The homes were foreclosed upon by the Bank / Lender that funded the loan for the home buyer. After the foreclosure the bank / lender contacts HUD and requests to be paid the insurance proceeds. HUD then offers the property for sale to recover the loss on the foreclosure claim. HUD assigns the property to an asset manager that prepares the property for sale and markets the home on HUD'S own web site www.HUDhomestore.com where the public can view the available HUD home inventory throughout the country. The properties can be viewed and purchased by bid online.
